Rabbi Margolis holds numerous advanced degrees including a Doctorate from Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Rabbi Margolis has taught on the faculties of Boston Hebrew College, Baltimore Hebrew University and NYU Graduate School.

Richard J. Margolis has served thirteen years as Rabbi of Temple Beth Sholom in Melbourne, Florida. He has previously led major congregations in Baltimore, Maryland (Beth Israel), Hollywood, Florida (Temple Sinai) and New York City (Conservative Synagogue of Fifth Avenue).

Rabbi Margolis is the author of the book Through the Rabbi's Eyes, and has been a frequent guest speaker on the radio program The World From a Jewish Perspective on WMEL 1300
